How to Stay Young (Quoted)

Stay Young! My Friend !

We all need to read this one

over and over until it becomes

part of who we are!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG?

1. Keep only cheerful friends.

The grouches pull you down.
(Keep this in mind if you are
one of those grouches!)

2. Keep learning:

Learn more about the computer,

crafts, gardening, whatever..

Never let the brain get idle.

'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'

And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

3. Enjoy the simple things.

4. Laugh often, long and loud.

Laugh until you gasp for breath.

And if you have a friend who makes

you laugh spend lots and lots of

time with HIM/HER.

5. The tears happen:

Endure, grieve, and move on.

The only person who is with us

our entire life, is ourselves.

LIVE while you are alive.

6. Surround yourself

with what you love:

Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes,

music, plants, hobbies, whatever.

Your home is your refuge.

7. Cherish your health:

If it is good, preserve it.

If it is unstable, improve it.

If it is beyond what you can

improve, get help.

8. Don't take guilt trips.

Take a trip to the mall,

even to the next county,

to a foreign country,

but NOT to where the guilt is.

9. Tell the people you love

that you love them,

at every opportunity.

10. Forgive now those who

hurt you. You might not

get a second chance.

Remember!

Lost time can never be found.

Be kinder than necessary,

for everyone you meet is

fighting some kind of battle.

P.S. Sorry!  I cannot find

the source of this article!

If you know, please let me

know!  Thank you!

Countryside and City推土機年年作響

From Green Countryside to City Landscape

圖畫書: "推土機年年作響"

Topics for discussions:

The seven pictures depict how this rural area has changed from countryside scenry to city landscape over the span of several decades--a person's lifetime.

If we view the pictures in chronological order one after another, not much difference would be noticed between any consecutive two pictures.  However, if we put the first picture and the last one side by side and make a comparison, the differences are drastic.

The country house, which used to be surrounded by a running creek, a vegetable garden, meadows, a beautiful pond, trees, and woods, was torn down and gave way to a busy superhighway.

The whole area is now occupied by office buildings and factories and not much greenry can be found.  All the natural forms of life, including plants, animals, and insects, have left few traces here.  The residents' connection to Nature has been cut off.

However, city life seems to promise urban and uburban residents a convenient life:  Stores, schools, hospitals, and workplaces flock together to offer services in need.  Instead of travelling long hours or days to get to town, residents now can commute by automobiles via highways within minutes or hours.

What have the residents lost when they trade natural connections with economic growth or living conveniences?  Why can't we have both at the same time?

How would you cope with the fast pace of urbanization, deforestation, and industrialization at your hometown, if it is located in countryside?

How would you re-establish your connection with Nature, if you have been an urban resident since childhood?  Is it possible for you to have natural scenerye and city landscape co-exist side by side harmoniously?
